On 7/30/2020 at 4:49 pm, patrol in the area of Dunellen and Jackson attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a motorcycle with no registration and no helmet. The driver evaded police operating in a reckless manner and was last observed heading into Plainfield on Myrtle Ave. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/30/2020 at 9:21 am, patrol responded to Dunellen VFW on Prospect Ave for the report of a Burglary. Staff reported that an unknown person had forced entry into the building and stolen $255 in U.S. Currency as well as a cash register valued at $1,500. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau. On 7/29/2020 at 4:24 pm, patrol responded to the 600 blk of Front St. for the report of a Structure Fire. Upon arrival, the fire had already been extinguished by the homeowner. Dunellen Fire Department responded to ensure that there were no extensions. The cause of the fire was undetermined. Sgt. Christopher Lovell investigated.

On 7/29/2020 at 1:00 pm, patrol responded to the 300 blk of Madison Ave for the report of Terroristic Threats. The victim reported receiving a series of threatening messages following the private sale of a motor vehicle. Sgt. Christopher Lovell investigated.

On 7/29/2020 at 6:09 am, patrol on the 100 blk of Pulaski St. observed a parked vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Franklin several days prior. The vehicle was secured and turned over to Franklin PD. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.

On 7/29/2020 at 2:20 am, while conducting a premise check of a Dunellen business near the Middlesex border, Ptlm. Irons and Ptlm. Goldman observed a vehicle which matched the description of an armed robbery in Warren Twp 30 minutes prior. The vehicle was followed into Middlesex where a stop was conducted and the occupants safely detained. The occupants and vehicle were turned over to Warren PD for further investigation, where they were later charged with Robbery, Firearms Possession, and Narcotics Possession. Ptlm. On 7/28/2020 at 4:09 am, patrol responded to Grove St. for the report of Simple Assault. The victim, an Uber driver, stated that he had driven an individual to Quick Chek and that an argument there had led to the rider punching the driver and fleeing on foot. This case remains open. On 7/24/2020 at 2:25 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim reported that he had been scammed by an unknown individual on an on-line dating website and had sent the person $14,800 in bitcoin. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 7/23/2020 at 9:06 pm, Samantha Ghanem, 32, of Middlesex was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule III Prescription Legend Drug without a Prescription, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Concealing Evidence following a motor vehicle stop on New Market Rd. Somerset County Sheriff's Officer Daneker and Narcotics Detection K-9 "Apex" assisted with the stop. Ms. Ghanem was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.

On 7/22/2020 at 4:19 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft by Deception. The victim reported that she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and demanding payment of $1,000 in Target gift cards. The money was sent to the unknown scammer. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 7/22/2020 at 12:29 am, observant patrol on the 300 blk of High St. saw a vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Bridgewater and had earlier eluded Piscataway Police. Upon being observed, the vehicle quickly took off into Piscataway and several occupants bailed on foot. The stolen vehicle was recovered and further investigation was turned over to Piscataway PD. On 7/20/2020 at 18:48, a juvenile male was charged with Eluding after fleeing from officers attempting to stop his motorcycle on Prospect Ave for erratic driving and multiple motor vehicle infractions. The juvenile was later identified and charges were mailed. Sgt. Christopher Lovell investigated.

On 7/20/2020 at 3:28 pm, patrol responded to the 200 blk of South Washington Ave for the report of a Found Ordnance. A resident was digging and located what appeared to be an unexploded mortar. Proper evacuations were initiated by patrol and scene safety was maintained until the New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit Responded and determined that the explosive was safe. Ptlm. On 7/19/2020 at 2:46 am, Edwin Gonzalez-Picon, 29, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated after patrol responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a parked car. Mr. Gonzalez-Picon was placed under arrest and brought to Dunellen HQ for processing. He was later released to a sober friend. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/18/2020 at 9:09 am, patrol responded to the 400 blk of Walnut St. for the report of Theft by Deception. The victim wished to report that she had fallen victim to a Social Security scam and sent an unknown person $8,900 in various gift cards. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 7/18/2020 at 3:00 am, patrol responded to Quick Chek on North Ave for the report of Disorderly Conduct. Staff reported that several individuals, some previously banned for shoplifting, had entered the store and attempted to steal items. When confronted by staff, one of the individuals began to knock over several display cases causing product to be strewn about the store. They then fled on foot prior to police arrival. This case remains open. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/16/2020 at 11:29 am, Tyrone Harris, 62, of Plainfield was arrested for Shoplifting after officers responded to Quick Chek for the report of a male concealing a large quantity of items. Mr. Harris passed all points of sale and was found to have concealed items valued at $68. Additionally he was found to have a no-bail warrant out of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and a $550 warrant out of Bridgewater. Mr. Harris was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 7/13/2020 at 9:02 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim reported that they had been playing basketball at Morecraft Park earlier in the evening, during which time an unknown suspect removed the victim's wallet. Ptlm. Joseph Green investigated.

On 7/8/2020 at 5:30 am, patrol responded to the 800 blk of Madison Ave for the report of a Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that she had left her vehicle unlocked during the prior night and that an unknown person had accessed the car and rummaged through the contents. Sgt. Brian Robbins investigated.

On 7/7/2020 at 4:19 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Harassment. The victim, a resident of the 200 blk of Oak Parkway reported receiving several harassing text messages from a former roommate. Sgt. Christopher Lovell investigated.

On 7/7/2020 at 9:28 am, patrol responded to South Second St. for the report of Illegal Dumping. Discarded tires and wood were observed. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 7/6/2020 at 8:13 pm, Eric Granberg, 51, of Manville was charged with Disorderly Conduct following patrol response to the 400 blk of First St. for the report of a disorderly person. Mr. Granberg continued to behave in an unlawful manner despite many requests by patrol to cease his behavior. Mr. Granberg was transported to the hospital for an evaluation and mailed a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/5/2020 at 7:57 pm, patrol responded to the 600 blk of Bound Brook Rd. for the report of a Bicycle Theft. The victim reported that her bicycle had been stolen from her driveway sometime that day. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/5/2020 at 5:48 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim, a resident of the 500 blk of Grove St. reported that a package containing an iPhone had been stolen. The victim discovered the opened box which once contained the phone near his residence. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 7/5/2020 at 2:09 pm, patrol responded to the 600 blk of Bound Brook Rd. for the report of a Bicycle Theft. The victim reported that her son's bicycle had been left outside and unlocked and was just stolen. An observant neighbor photographed two black males approximately 20 years old stealing the bicycle and riding towards Plainfield. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 7/5/2020 at 1:07 pm, patrol responded to Diane's O'Matic Wash on North Ave for the report of Theft. The victim reported that she had dropped her wallet which was turned in to staff a short while later, conveniently missing the $40 in U.S. Currency which had once been inside. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 7/3/2020 at 9:00 pm, patrol on the 300 blk of High St. observed a parked and unoccupied vehicle which had been reported to be stolen out of Hillsborough several days earlier. The vehicle was secured and turned over to Hillsborough PD for further investigation. Ptlm. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 7/3/2020 at 2:01 am, patrol responded to Quick Chek on North Ave for the report of Shoplifting. Staff reported that two males were observed concealing several items on their person with an approximate value of $5. The duo then ordered a sandwich and paid $6.39 for it. While waiting for the sandwich to be made, staff inquired about the items they concealed and the males fled the store prior to receiving the paid for food, essentially paying $6.39 for the $5 worth of stolen items. On 7/1/2020 at 5:30 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of a Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim, a resident of the 300 blk of Fairview Ave, reported that she had left her vehicle unlocked the night prior and that an unknown person had accessed it, removing sneakers valued at $70. Ptlm. James Daniel investigated.

On 7/1/2020 at 5:02 pm, Tymirah Quarles, 20, of Plainfield was charged with Shoplifting after patrol responded to the report of a Shoplifting in progress at Tropical Supermarket. Ms. Quarles was observed on surveillance footage attempting to conceal $22.81 worth of merchandise which she dropped when confronted by employees and fled prior to police arrival. Ms. Quarles was mailed a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 7/1/2020 at 11:02 am, patrol responded to the 200 blk of Whittier Ave for the report of a Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that their vehicle had been parked and unlocked and that an unknown person had accessed it during the prior night, removing approximately $3 in U.S. Currency. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 7/1/2020 at 9:11 am, patrol respond to the 400 blk of Fairview Ave for the report of a Suspicious Vehicle. Investigation revealed that the parked and unoccupied vehicle had been reported stolen out of Highland Park several days earlier. The vehicle was impounded to be turned over to Highland Park PD for further investigation. Ptlm. James Daniel investigated.

On 7/1/2020 at 7:44 am, patrol responded to the 500 blk of Walnut St. for the report of a Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that their vehicle had been parked and unlocked on Whittier Ave and that an unknown person had accessed the car during the prior night and rummaged through the contents, removing approximately $1 in U.S. Currency. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.
