On 5/28/2020 at 8:38 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Fraud. The victim reported several fraudulent transactions on his venmo account for a loss of $2,500. Ptlm. Joseph Green investigated.

On 5/28/2020 at 2:04 pm, patrol responded to Sun Power Gas on North Ave for the report of Simple Assault. The employee reported that a female had spit on him after he requested identification for the purchase of tobacco products. A male then punched the employee in the face as he was attempting to contact police. They both fled towards Piscataway in a Black Honda. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 5/27/2020 at 6:59 am, patrol responded to Gavornik Park on High St. for the report of a vehicle which was abandoned in a ditch. Investigation revealed that the car had recently been reported stolen out of Green Brook. The vehicle was secured and turned over to Green Brook PD. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 5/23/2020 at 1:51 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim, a resident of the 400 blk of North Ave noted that he received a package containing (2) iPhone 11 Pro valued at $2,000 but that it was stolen prior to being able to get to the items. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 5/23/2020 at 1:13 am, patrol responded to a residence on the 800 blk of Second St. for the report of a Smoke Condition. Patrol arrived to find heavy smoke emitting from the basement and ensured the evacuation of all residents. Firefighters from Dunellen and Middlesex responded, locating a smoldering couch in the basement. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.

On 5/22/2020 at 4:02 pm, patrol responded to Quick Chek on North Ave for the report of Shoplifting. Staff reported that a whistle male wearing black shorts, a red t-shirt, and a baseball hat had spilled coffee on the checkout counter to create a diversion while he fled on foot towards Plainfield after grabbing (4) packs of Newport Cigarettes. Total loss reported: $40.34. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 5/22/2020 at 1:32 pm, patrol responded to Quick Chek on North Ave for the report of Shoplifting. An unknown male had entered the store and removed (4) Red Bull Energy Drinks without paying for a total theft of $21. He fled prior to police arrival. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 5/21/2020 at 8:35 pm, patrol responded to a business on the 300 blk of North Ave for the report of Criminal Mischief. An unknown person had spray painted the front of the building. Ptlm. Matthew Rosofsky investigated.

On 5/20/2020 at 12:08 am, patrol responded to the 1700 blk of West Fourth St. for the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that he had left his Ford Explorer unlocked and with the keys in the vehicle and that unknown person had stolen it sometime during the previous day. The vehicle was entered as stolen and recovered in Newark a short while later after being found crashed and abandoned. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau for follow-up. Ptlm. On 5/18/2020 at 12:57 pm, patrol responded to the 600 blk of First St. for the report of a Vehicle Fire. Patrol arrived to find a vehicle on fire from the engine compartment. Dunellen Fire Department arrived to extinguish the fire. The Middlesex County Fire Marshall's Office responded and determined that the cause of the fire was not suspicious. Ptlm. On 5/17/2020 at 7:58 pm, patrol responded to Lucky 7 Days convenience store on North Ave for the report of Shoplifting. Employees reported that a male had stolen two cartons of cigarettes and fled on foot prior to police arrival. Ptlm. Patrick Barry investigated.

On 5/15/2020 at 5:28 pm, patrol received a report of Theft from the 700 blk of First St. The victim reported that a children's bicycle had been stolen from the sidewalk in front of their residence where it was left unattended. The bicycle was described as black with orange wheels. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 5/14/2020 at 4:07 am, patrol responded to the 400 blk of Jackson Ave after an observant resident saw a male on his Ring surveillance camera pulling on car door handles. Patrol located the male near Jackson and Front St. The male, identified as Adiel Guzman-Arriola, 19, of Dunellen was found to be in possession of credit cards belonging to multiple people as well as a significant amount of loose change. These items were later found to be the procee...ds of motor vehicle burglaries in Dunellen and Plainfield. Mr. Guzman-Arriola was placed under arrest and brought to Dunellen HQ for processing. He was charged with the following: Possession of Marijuana Under 50g, Burglary (2 cts), Theft, Receiving Stolen Property (2 cts), and Credit Card Theft. He was subsequently released with a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Joseph Green investigated.

On 5/13/2020 at 3:28 pm, patrol responded to the 1800 blk of West Fourth St. for the report of Criminal Mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had scratched the initials "AA" into their parked vehicle sometime during the prior month. Det. Jonathan DeAngelo investigated.

On 5/8/2020 at 4:21 pm, patrol responded to the 500 blk of Grove St. for the report of Criminal Mischief. The caller wished to report that a neighbor had vandalized the victim's car with spray paint. The suspect admitted to causing the damage but the victim declined to pursue the matter further. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.
