October

On 10/30/2022 at 9:35 am, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim, the owner of a Dunellen business, reported the theft of over $50,000 by a former employee over the course of the last several years. This case remains under investigation. Ptlm. James Daniel investigated.

On 10/29/2022 at 11:10 pm, Lionel Conaway, 59, of North Plainfield was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated after patrol was called to a pedestrian struck hit and run near Jackson and North. Patrol arrived to find a juvenile male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Eyewitnesses provided a description and plate and the vehicle in question was stopped by North Plainfield Police shortly thereafter. Once Dunellen officers arrived, Mr. Conaway was placed under arrest and transported to Dunellen HQ for processing and the victim was transported to the hospital for medical attention. He was later released to a sober family member and this case has been forwarded to the Traffic Bureau for further investigation. Ptlm. Marcin Nierodzik investigated.

On 10/29/2022 at 10:56 am, patrol responded to Tropical Supermarket on North Ave for the reported Theft. The victim reported dropping her wallet which was later seen on a security camera being taken by an unknown male. Sgt. Christopher Lovell investigated.

On 10/29/2022 at 9:55 am, Marvin Douglas, 21, of Piscataway was arrested and charged with Shoplifting after patrol was called to '7 Days' on North Ave for the Theft of $35 worth of Cake flavored CBD. Mr. Douglas was located nearby after changing outfits to evade officers. He was placed under arrest and brought to Dunellen HQ for processing. Additionally he was found to have two warrants for his arrest out of Piscataway totaling $7,500. Mr. Douglas was turned over to Piscataway PD on their warrants. Ptlm. James Daniel investigated.

On 10/29/2022 at 1:03 am, Vincent Martin, 28, of Green Brook was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples following police response to a motor vehicle crash on the 700 blk of Bound Brook Rd. Mr. Martin was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing where he refused to provide proper breath samples. He was later released to a sober family member. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 10/27/2022 at 12:49 am, Robert Sciarrillo, 32, of Middlesex was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples following a motor vehicle stop near Center and Whittier. Mr. Sciarillo was brought to Dunellen and Green Brook HQ's where he refused to provide samples of his breath. He was later released to a sober family member. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.

On 10/24/2022 at 11:21 am, patrol responded to the 300 blk of Whittier Ave for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that at approximately 2:34 am an unknown individual had entered their unlocked vehicle and stolen several bags of candy meant for Halloween. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.

On 10/21/2022, Alejandra Paredes-Moposita, 40, of Plainfield was charged with Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment following investigation into an incident on 10/8/2022. Ms. Paredes-Moposita was mailed a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 10/18/2022 at 4:40 pm, Cheryl Gutschmidt, 46, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct after patrol was called to Columbia Park for the report of Ms. Gutschmidt acting disorderly and in the presence of children. After multiple attempts, Ms. Gutschmidt refused to cull her behavior and was placed under arrest. She was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released with a court date. Ptlm. On 10/13/2022 at 4:04 pm, patrol responded to a motor vehicle crash on North Washington Ave. After subsequent investigation and review of video obtained from an eyewitness, Adam Sylvester, 40, of Dunellen was charged with Assault by Auto. Mr. Sylvester was mailed a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.

On 10/12/2022, Bryan Carabali-Amancha, 27, of North Plainfield was charged with Theft and Burglary related to an incident on 10/9/2022 on the 700 blk of Front St. While an invited guest in the residence, Mr. Carabali-Amancha located the victim's purse and removed $600. When later confronted by the victim, he returned a portion of the proceeds. A court appearance notice was mailed. Det. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 10/10/2022 at 5:49 am, patrol responded to the 700 blk of Front St. for the reported Theft. The victim reported two separate thefts, one which occurred that evening with an individual stealing security cameras, and an additional theft of $600 from several days prior. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 10/10/2022 at 1:07 am, Carlos Franco-Hernandez, 39, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples following a motor vehicle stop on North Ave. Mr. Franco-Hernandez was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing where he refused to provide proper breath samples. Mr. Franco-Hernandez additionally refused to contact a sober party and was held until such a time that he was determined to be sober. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.

On 10/9/2022 at 1:00 pm, patrol responded to Family Dollar for the report of Theft. The victim, who left her purse in a cart unattended, returned to find that someone had removed $120 in U.S. currency from it. Ptlm. Manuel Santiago investigated.

On 10/4/2022, Eric Kunst, 57, of Highland Park was charged with Theft and Possession of Burglar's Tools following investigation into a bicycle theft on 9/28/2022 from the Dunellen Train Station. NJ Transit Police were able to locate surveillance footage which showed Mr. Kunst using a large pair of bolt cutters to remove the lock securing the bicycle. He was mailed a court appearance notice. On 10/2/2022 at 3:24 am, Jimy Cordova-Milian, 40, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Obstruction, Hindering, and Disorderly Conduct following police response to a physical altercation on Kline Pl. Mr. Cordova-Milian was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released with a court date. Ptlm. Anthony Issler investigated.

On 10/1/2022 at 12:24 pm, patrol responded to the 200 blk of South Washington Ave for the report of Harassment. The victim wished to document receiving several harassing phone calls. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.
