On 5/31/2016 at 03:54 pm, Bernard Jennings, 59, of Plainfield was arrested for resisting arrest by flight, obstruction the administration of law and shoplifting. Officers were alerted to a shoplifting which had just occurred at Quick Check on North Ave.  Ptlm. Goldman was in the area of South Washington and Orange Street and observed a male riding a bicycle, fitting the description of the suspect. Ptlm. Goldman attempted to stop the suspect but he fled, first on bicycle and then on foot, dropping the stolen items in the process. Ptlm. Holovacko, Ptlm. DeAngelo, Det. Dudley, Det. O'Neill, and Sgt. Beenders assisted in the search for the suspect who was apprehended on the 200 block of South Washington Ave after running through several residential backyards.  The stolen items were retrieved, including multiple packs of gum, cough drops, and energy drinks totaling $145.86. The items were returned to their rightful owner.  Bail was set a $5,000 as well as bail on several outstanding warrants.  Custody of Mr. Jennings was transferred to the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office for transport to Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center following a medical evaluation. On 5/30/2016 at 1:44 pm, Patrol responded to a 911 call for a possible drug overdose at a North Ave residence. Officers arrived to find an unconscious female surrounded by evidence of heroin use. Ptlm. Holovacko and Ptlm. DeAngelo administered 2 doses of Narcan Naloxone which reverses the effect of opiates. After the second dose the victim regained consciousness. Folds of suspected heroin were recovered from the scene. Ptlm. Holovacko investigated.

On 5/25/2016 at 2:49 pm, Patrol was alerted to a suspect attempting to pass a fraudulent prescription at a North Ave pharmacy. The suspect was reported to be a 30-40 year old black female with a visible mustache, purple shirt, and blue jeans. She had fled on foot once she realized police were being contacted. She had left behind which did not belong to her. No suspect was able to be located and no medications were dispensed. Ptlm. Holovacko investigated.

On 5/25/2016 at approximately 11:04 pm, Patrolman Nicholas Goldman was on patrol in the area of South Washington Avenue and Orange Street.  The patrol vehicle's automatic license plate recognition alerted him that the registered owner of a black Nissan Frontier, Nicholas Dinola, 37, of Ocean Twp, was wanted for burglary.  Patrolman Goldman began to follow the vehicle as he confirmed an active warrant for the registered owner, as well as observed the pickup truck to be occupied with 3 passengers. Patrolman Goldman activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Route 28 and Washington Ave.  Upon Patrolman Goldman approaching the vehicle, the passenger, later identified as Nicholas Dinola, quickly exited the vehicle and fled northbound. Patrolman Goldman gave chase on foot as Mr. Dinola ran through the back of several businesses and residential areas. After clearing a large jagged fence, a visual of the suspect was lost. Patrolman Goldman returned to secure the vehicle; finding the two other occupants, a male and female had fled.  With assistance from Dunellen Officers Patrolman Marcin Nierodzik, Patrolman Christopher Lovell, and Sergeant John Doherty, as well as several officers from Piscataway, the area was canvassed for the three suspects. At approximately 01:15 am on 5/26/2016, Ptlm. Nierodzik stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area.  Further investigation revealed that this was an Uber vehicle and that the two rear occupants were the same male and female whom had fled the stop after the foot chase. The female occupant, Ariana Knittel, 33, of Brick, was arrested for several outstanding warrants.  The driver, Ryan Natushch, 31, of Green Brook, was cited for driving with an expired license.  At approximately 04:18 am, Ptlm. Nierodzik notified officers of a suspicious male inside of Sun Power Gas Station at Washington Ave and route 28.  Officers responded and Ptlm. Goldman identified the male as Nicholas Dinola and placed him under arrest. Mr. Dinola was charged with Resisting Arrest by flight. Mr. Dinola was treated at headquarters for injuries to his hand sustained while climbing the jagged fence. He was later transported to Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in lieu of $5,000 bail as well as several no-bail warrants for burglary and shoplifting from other jurisdictions. On 5/22/2016 at 7:48pm Patrolman Nierodzik conducted a motor vehicle stop for a prohibited right turn on red.  Upon speaking with the occupants, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A vehicle search led to the discovery of a small portion of marijuana, a metal grinder, and an open container of an alcoholic beverage within the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle, Pedro Landaverde, 20, of North Plainfield, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and minors in possession of alcoholic beverages. Mr. Landaverde was subsequently released with a pending court date. Patrolman Nierodzik investigated

On 5/16/2016 at 8:25pm Patrol was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Front Street and Washington Ave. Upon arrival, Osman Brown, 34, of Newark was determined to be driving one of the vehicles. A check with dispatch revealed Mr. Brown had eight active warrants for his arrest. Shortly thereafter a passenger in the vehicle, Robert Glover, 56, of Newark was found to have a no bail warrant out of Essex County. Both parties were placed under arrest without incident and processed. Mr. Brown was subsequently released on his own recognizance with new court dates. Mr. Glover was lodged in Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.  Sergeant Doherty and Patrolman Nierodzik investigated.

On 5/15/2016 at 6:15pm Police units were dispatched to the NJ Transit platform for an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, Patrolman Lovell identified the male as Charles Luciano-Ballester age 54 of Dunellen. Due to his level of intoxication, an ambulance was requested for evaluation. While awaiting the ambulance, Mr. Luciano-Ballester tried to remove his penis from his pants several times after being told not to do so. He then removed his penis and urinated on the train platform directly in front of officers. At that time, he was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct along with multiple Borough Ordinance violations. He was subsequently released with a pending court date and transported to Somerset Hospital for treatment.  Patrolman Lovell investigated
On 5/15/2016 at 2:22am Patrolman Pepe was on routine patrol when he observed a green Nissan traveling with a headlight out on North Avenue. He conducted a motor vehicle stop and requested identification from both the driver and passenger. As the passenger reached into his pocket to remove his identification a bag containing suspected Cocaine fell out of his pocket into plain view. The passenger was placed under arrest and identified as Jose Rivera-Menjivar age 30 of North Plainfield, NJ. Further investigation also revealed an open container of alcohol beneath the passenger seat. Mr. Rivera-Menjivar was charged with Possession of CDS (Cocaine) and issued multiple traffic citations. He was fingerprinted, processed, and later released after posting bail.  Patrolman Pepe investigated
On 5/11/2016 at 9:08pm Patrol units received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Third Street. Patrolman Goldman observed a suspicious vehicle in the area that also had items obstructing the drivers view. He conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Alethea Roberts age 50 of Dunellen. Ms. Roberts was known to officers as she had been arrested for DWI in the same vehicle several nights earlier. Patrolman Goldman observed several indicators of alcohol impairment while speaking with Ms. Roberts and she was asked to take field sobriety tests. Ms. Roberts then became extremely uncooperative and attempted to pull away from officers and enter her home. She was then placed under arrest after refusing to participate in any sobriety testing. Ms. Roberts also refused to submit to breath samples while being processed. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated with minor as passenger, Child Neglect, Obstructing the administration of law, and Refusal to submit breath samples. She was lodged in Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center after failing to post bail.  Patrolman Goldman investigated.
On 5/9/2016 at 7:53pm - Patrol units were dispatched to South Avenue residence regarding a verbal dispute over a lawn mower. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who stated she observed the suspect enter her backyard and steal her lawn mower. Officers identified the suspect who was in possession of the mower as Frank Mcgirr age 31 of Dunellen. Mr. Mcgirr was placed under arrest and charged with Theft and Criminal Trespass. He was subsequently released with a pending court date.  Patrolman Daniel investigated.

On 5/8/2016 at 12:13am Alethea Roberts age 50 of Dunellen was arrested and charged with DWI and Disorderly Conduct. While on scene at an unrelated call for service, Patrolman Goldman observed Ms. Roberts to be highly intoxicated. Shortly after clearing the initial incident, Patrolman Goldman was still in the area and witnessed Ms. Roberts enter her vehicle and drive a short distance. He conducted a motor vehicle stop and confirmed Ms. Roberts was the driver. Following field sobriety tests Ms. Roberts was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. She was also charged with Disorderly Conduct for yelling loudly and cursing while in a residential neighborhood during the evening. She was released to a sober party with a pending court date.  Patrolman Goldman investigated.
On 5/7/2016 at 2:37am Police units received a report of an erratic driver in a red Toyota that had just pulled into the Quick Chek convenient store. Shortly thereafter, Patrolman Goldman observed a red Toyota exit the parking lot without its headlights activated along with several other motor vehicle violations. He conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Jose L Cristalinas-Moreno age 49 of Manville, NJ. Patrolman Goldman believed Mr. Cristalinas-Moreno to be under the influence of alcohol and following field sobriety tests placed him under arrest for DWI. He was processed and later released to a sober party.  Patrolman Goldman investigated
On 5/6/2016 at 10:46pm Patrolman Nierodzik was on routine patrol when he observed four individuals riding their bicycles in the middle of North Washington avenue. He made contact with the group and determined that one of them, Raphael V Garcia age 22 of Plainfield, NJ had an active warrant out of Green Brook. Mr. Garcia was placed under arrest, processed and later posted bail.    Patrolman Nierodzik investigated.
On 5/4/2016 at 12:58am Patrol units were dispatched to a residence on Second Street for the reported verbal altercation. Upon arrival officers determined one of the actors, Yasmeen M Davis age 26 of Dunellen had a warrant for her arrest out of Fanwood. Ms. Davis was placed under arrest without incident, processed, and released on her own recognizance.          Patrolman Goldman investigated
On 5/1/2016 at 1:47am Sergeant Jeff Delbuono was on routine patrol when he observed an individual operating a black Ford explorer without a seatbelt. He conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Juan D Valdivia age 22 of Piscataway, NJ. It was then determined that Mr. Valdivia had an active warrant out of Piscataway. He was placed under arrest, processed, and later posted bail.   Sergeant Delbuono investigated
