On 2/27/2024 at 3:50 pm, patrol became alerted to an individual on the Prospect Ave train bridge experiencing a mental health crisis. Lt. Beenders, Sgt. Robbins, Ptlm. Dudley, Det. Goldman, Ptlm. Nierodzik, and Ptlm. Vargas all responded. They were able to make contact with the individual and safely removed them from harm's way where they were turned over to further treatment. Ptlm. On 2/27/2024 at 3:10 pm, patrol responded to Family Dollar on North Ave for the report of an individual passing Counterfeit Currency. Staff reported that two males had entered the store. The first used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase a small amount of candy and received the change. When the accomplice tried to do the same, staff became suspicious and the duo fled in a silver Dodge Charger westbound on North Ave. Ptlm. Saul Vargas investigated.

On 2/24/2024 at 11:21 pm, Scientific Jasper, 38, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Hindering Apprehension, and Disorderly Conduct following a motor vehicle stop on the 200 blk of North Ave. Mr. Jasper provided officers with an incorrect name and demonstrated hostile behavior towards officers throughout the entire booking process, in addition to refusing to provide breath samples. Following processing, he was released to a sober family member. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 2/23/2024 at 5:28 pm, patrol responded to Family Dollar on North Ave for the reported Shoplifting. Staff reported that a male wearing all black and a black face mask had stolen body wash and soap valued at $208.13. He fled on a black bicycle East towards Plainfield prior to Police arrival. Ptlm. On 2/23/2024 at 2:32 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Harassment. The victim, a resident of Dunellen, reported receiving harassing messages from a relative. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 2/22/2024 at 10:04 am, Tannia Caisaguano-Vega, 25, of Piscataway was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property following a motor vehicle stop in which she was operating a vehicle equipped with Stolen License Plates. Additionally, a warrant for her arrest was located out of Elizabeth in the amount of $1,500. Ms. Caisaguano-Vega was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and released after receiving court appearance notices. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.

On 2/19/2024 at 10:47 am, Luis Giraldo-Murillo, 59, of Morristown was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension, False Government Documents, and Fugitive From Justice following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Ave. Mr. Giraldo-Murillo presented a Driver's License which had been obtained under an alias to conceal multiple warrants for his arrest, most significantly a full-extradition no-bail warrant out of the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Bureau. Additional warrants were located out of Florham Park, Morris Twp, Weehawken, and Randolph Twp totaling $3,354. Mr. Giraldo-Murillo was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Det. Nicholas Goldman investigated. 

On 2/13/2024 at 4:30 pm, James Spears, 30, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Violation of a Court Order Prohibiting Weapons Possession, Possession of a High Capacity Handgun Magazine, and Disorderly Conduct, after patrol received a third party 9-1-1 call reporting an intoxicated, armed individual threatening to shoot the residents of his apartment building. Mr. Spears was taken into custody quickly and without further incident by responding officers, Ptlm. Joe Dudley, Det. Nicholas Goldman, Ptlm. Kevin Condus, and Ptlm. Saul Vargas. Middlesex County Sheriff's K-9 Officer Kevin Mastroserio also assisted in the case with his Explosives Detection K-9. Mr. Spears was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Det. Nicholas Goldman investigated.


On 2/12/2024 at 1:12 pm, patrol responded to the area near Faber School after staff observed an unattended 5 year old child who did . With the assistance of a translator from the school, it was determined that the child had been inadvertently left home alone and wandered to the playground alone. Following interviews and investigation, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency reunited the child with their family. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.


On 2/12/2024 at 11:07 am, patrol received a walk-in report of Credit Card Theft. The victim reported that his wallet containing credit cards was missing and that several unauthorized charges had appeared. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.

On 2/6/2024 at 1:02 pm, patrol responded to the 200 blk of Whittier Ave for the reported Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that two work trucks had been burglarized sometime over the prior day and it appears that the thief attempted unsuccessfully to steal the vehicles but did cause significant damage to the locking and ignition systems. On 2/5/2024 at 6:25 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft by Deception. The victim, a resident of Center St., reported that they lost $115 in a Facebook Marketplace scam in which items were paid for but never received. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.


On 2/4/2024 at 4:34 am, Giovanni Tanganelli, 20, of Dunellen, was arrested and charged with Burglary (4 cts), Theft (3 cts), Credit Card Theft (2 cts), and Receiving Stolen Property after patrol observed the defendant being chased by a person whose vehicle he was caught burglarizing. Mr. Tanganelli was apprehended and found to be in possession of items which had just recently been stolen out of several vehicles on New Market Rd., North Washington Ave, and South Washington Ave. Mr. Tanganelli was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released with a court appearance notice. On 2/2/2024 at 8:40 am, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported that an unknown person had stolen her purse and debit card sometime during the prior day and had unsuccessfully attempted to use it. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.
