On 1/31/2024 at 9:21 am, patrol responded to Depot Way for the reported Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that an unlocked contractor's van was accessed and approximately $2,000 in merchandise was stolen. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.

On 1/30/2024 at 3 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Identity Theft. The victim reported a fraudulently opened Verizon account in their name with charges of $160.96. Ptlm. Saul Vargas investigated.

On 1/29/2024 at 7:11 am, patrol responded to the 200 blk of Penfield Pl for the reported Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had entered their unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours and removed a wallet and contents. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 1/27/2024 at 10:20 pm, Carlos Acosta-Villegas, 44, of Dunellen was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on South Ave. Mr. Acosta-Villegas was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Bridgewater in the amount of $1,000. He was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and released after receiving a new court date. Ptlm. Jeffrey Jones investigated.

On 1/25/2024 at 11:45 am, patrol responded to the report of a Man Down outside of Quick Chek on North Ave. Patrol located the man, 63, of Bound Brook and observed signs consistent with a Heroin Overdose. After administering Narcan Naloxone and regaining consciousness, the male was turned over to EMS for transport to the hospital. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.

On 1/24/2024 at 2:41 pm, patrol responded to the reported Road Rage incident, during which the aggressor stated to the victim multiple times that he was a Police Officer. Although fleeing prior to the arrival of the actual police, Anthony Soares, 50, of Warren was identified and mailed a charge of Impersonating a Police Officer. Ptlm. Kevin Condus investigated.

On 1/19/2024 at 5:57 pm, patrol responded to Kline Pl for the reported Criminal Trespass. The homeowner reported that while she was away on vacation, a person known to her was captured on surveillance footage accessing the home several times without permission. As a result, Nicholas Ortiz, 37, of Jersey City was charged with Defiant Trespass and mailed a court appearance notice. Det. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 1/19/2024 at 10:51 am, patrol received a walk-in report of Identity Theft. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported that an unknown person tried to change payment information on their Unemployment Benefits. Det. Nicholas Goldman investigated.

On 1/17/2024 at 2:29 am, Saul Narvaez, 30, of North Plainfield was arrested and charged with Shoplifting and Contempt of Court after patrol was called to Quick Chek for the reported Shoplifting. Staff reported that Mr. Narvaez had stolen items valued at $6.75. He was uncooperative with responding officers and ultimately placed under arrest. Warrants were located for his arrest out of Green Brook, Plainfield, and North Plainfield totaling $2,350. Mr. Narvaez was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later turned over to Green Brook PD on their warrant. Ptlm. Gary Smith investigated.

On 1/13/2024 at 7:48 pm, Tyler Leivonen, 29, of Branchburg was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Ave. Mr. Leivonen was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released to a sober family member. On 1/13/2024 at 3:50 pm, Adam Sylvester, 41, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt of Injury with a Deadly Weapon (3 cts) and Attempt to Cause Significant Bodily Injury (3 cts) following investigation into a motor vehicle crash on 1/9/2024. Investigation revealed that Mr. Sylvester had used his vehicle to ram another vehicle containing a small child three separate times in an apparent road rage incident. Mr. Sylvester was apprehended on a warrant issued for his arrest without incident and after being brought to Dunellen HQ for processing was remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Ptlm. On 1/11/2024 at 10:00 pm, Jorge Acosta-Acosta, 36, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on Dunellen Ave. Mr. Acosta-Acosta provided officers with a fictitious name in order to conceal several warrants for his arrest. Warrants were located out of Howell and Brick totaling $1,100. Mr. Acosta-Acosta was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and released after receiving a court date and posting bail. Ptlm. On 1/11/2024 at 12:59 am, Bryant Warren, 41, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct after patrol responded to North Tavern for the report of an individual threatening staff and throwing bar stools around the establishment. Mr. Warren was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released with a court appearance notice. Ptlm. Gary Smith investigated.

On 1/10/2024 at 3:28 pm, Ptlm. Dudley and Ptlm. Condus responded tothe Odor of Smoke on Depot Way. Upon arrival, officers observed smoke emanating from the residence. Entry was made through a window and a fire was located on the stovetop of the unoccupied home and extinguished. Arson Investigator Det. Nicholas Goldman and the Middlesex County Fire Marshal's Office responded but the fire was not deemed to be suspicious. Ptlm. Joe Dudley investigated.

On 1/7/2024 at 11:44 pm, Brian Walker, 51, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Lewdness, Hindering Apprehension, and Disorderly Conduct after patrol observed Mr. Walker urinating in a potted plant outside of Police HQ. He subsequently refused to cooperate as officers attempted to issue a Borough Ordinance. Mr. Walker was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later turned over to EMS and transported to St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick for a medical evaluation. Ptlm. Gary Smith investigated.


On 1/6/2024 at 10:28 am, patrol received a walk-in report of a Lost Wallet. The victim, a resident of Dunellen, reported losing his wallet sometime during the previous day. Sgt. Brian Robbins investigated.


On 1/3/2024 at 12:31 pm, patrol received a walk-in report at HQ of a Theft. The victim, a resident of the 100 blk of First St., reported that the catalytic converter had been removed from their parked vehicle during the overnight hours. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.


On 1/3/2024 at 7:29 am, patrol responded to the 500 blk of Dunellen Ave for the reported Theft. The victim reported that an unknown person had removed the catalytic converter from their parked vehicle during the overnight hours. Ptlm. Brian O'Neill investigated.


On 1/2/2024 a 5:48 pm, Rafael Velazquez, 22, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with Theft by Deception and Theft by Unlawful Taking after the Detective Bureau was notified by Family Dollar Loss Prevention that they had evidence of an employee stealing funds and product valued at $359. Mr. Velazquez was taken into custody at the store without incident and transported to Dunellen HQ for processing before being released with a court appearance notice. Det.
