On 7/29/2025 at 3:53 am, patrol responded to the parking lot of Rock Ice where a garbage truck which had been collecting trash in Plainfield began to catch fire and the driver dumped the contents into the empty parking lot to avoid further damage. The fire was put out by the Dunellen Fire Department and follow-up was forwarded to the Middlesex County Fire Marshal's Office. Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.
On 7/22/2025 patrol responded to Depot Way for the reported Attempted Burglary. The homeowner had surveillance footage from 1:30 am the prior night of a black male wearing a hoodie and full face-mask attempting to open the sliding glass door which was locked. He did not gain entry and fled the area on foot. This incident remains open. Ptlm. Erik Ortiz investigated.
On 7/20/2025 at 3:10 am, Chenet Philemon, 35, of Orange was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Ave. Mr. Phiolemon was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released to a sober friend.Ptlm. Keith Irons investigated.
On 7/14/2025 5:00 pm, severe thunderstorms caused flash flooding in the area. Sgt. Robbins, Sgt. DeAngelo, DSgt. Goldman, Ptlm. Irons, Ptlm. Lowder, Ptlm. Smith, Ptlm. Vargas, and Ptlm. Mortensen worked through the storm to respond to dozens of calls related to the flooding, assisting with numerous submerged vehicles, closed roads, Fire Department water rescues, and getting the displaced to shelters.
On 7/13/2025 at 9:16 pm, Teofilo Castro-Fernandez, 37, of Dunellen was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated after patrol responded to the 600 blk of Second St. for the motor vehicle accident in which Mr. Castro-Fernandez had struck a parked car. He was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later turned over to the Rescue Squad to be transported for a medical evaluation. Ptlm. Jeffrey Jones investigated.
On 7/13/2025 at 12:50 am, Jocelin Reyes, 23, of Elizabeth was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Ave in which she was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Green Brook in the amount of $750. Ms. Reyes was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released after receiving a new court date. Ptlm. Michael Lowder investigated.
On 7/12/2025 at 9:37 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of Theft. The victim, a resident of the 200 blk of Penfield Pl wished to report $238.28 in fraudulent e-z pass charges dating back to 2016. Ptlm. Jeffrey Jones investigated.
On 7/12/2025 at 1:55 am, Geancarlos Torres-Toscano, 24, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Ave. Mr. Torres-Toscano was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and later released to a sober friend. On 7/11/2025 at 9:05 pm, patrol responded to Lucky 7 Days convenience store on North Ave for the reported Shoplifting. Staff reported that a white male wearing a black shirt, jeans, and a hat entered the store behaving erratically before removing a lighter from the counter and informing staff that he would not pay for the item and that they should contact the police. On 7/8/2025 at 9:59 pm, Christopher Campopiano, 37, of Edison was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Ave in which Mr. Campopiano was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Edison in the amount of $1,000. He was brought to Dunellen HQ for processing and released after posting bail. Ptlm. Jeffrey Jones investigated.
On 7/8/2025 at 1:00 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of property damage. The reporting party, a resident of the 700 blk of Walnut St. reported that during the storm on 7/3/2025 a power transformer had fallen and damaged their parked vehicle. Ptlm. Paul Condit investigated.
On 7/7/2025 at 6:51 pm, patrol received a walk-in report of property damage. The reporting party wished to report that a tree had fallen on their vehicle on the 200 blk of Front St. during the storm on 7/3/25. Ptlm. Erik Ortiz investigated.
